The village hall policy is designed to cover assets, earnings and legal liabilities of village halls.

Key features

  • Covers your assets such as buildings, contents and stock, but does not cover mechanical breakdown or failure

  • Covers your legal liabilities with libel & slander cover included as standard, but does not cover any liability for use of a motor vehicle

  • Covers your money & earnings – protection against theft or loss of revenue (for example, as a result of fire damage to the hall), but does not cover theft not involving forcible or violent entry to or from the premises

  • Covers for the cost of legal fees should the village hall need defence in court, providing a reasonable prospect of success exists throughout the duration of the claim

  • Covers trustees for their personal liability in the event of a wrongful act, but does not cover damage or destruction to property

Key benefits

  • Special events cover, such as bonfire night or the use of bouncy castles, is included as standard for any event with up to 10,000 attendees

  • Trustee indemnity may cover trustees of the Village Hall for breach of trust or duty if sued in a personal capacity

  • Trustees Indemnity may also protect an individual trustee in the event of allegations of discrimination

  • Legal expenses cover can be selected at an additional cost and covers you for property disputes, defence of criminal proceedings and actions following personal injury

  • Should you have a dispute with someone looking to hire the hall, you can obtain free legal advice using the Aviva legal help line, which is available 24/7
